Thinking about WW1 in Primary 1

In Primary 1 we are looking at WW1 and why we are celebrating 100 years since it ended.  We also discussed why the poppy is such an important symbol this time of year.  We had loads of fun creating our own poppy brooches with air dough and making poppy art using our hands and fingers!  We had a very special visitor in to tell us all about what it is like to be a soldier.  We know that soldiers like to wear hats, they like to march, they like to eat breakfast, they like to sleep and they like to keep us safe.  We used our numeracy skills to weigh and measure ingredients to bake poppy fairy cakes to sell at the community cafe.  They look fabulous!  Well done everyone!
