At Danestone we have 6 Castles; Crathes, Dunnottar, Fyvie, Kildrummy, Drum and Fraser. Pupils from across the school can earn Castle Points for a variety of reasons including good behaviour, quality work, trying hard in class and outside in the playground. The pupils are very proud of their Castles and are always trying hard to earn more Castle Points.
This year we decided to change how we reward the Castle with the most points. In the past, points were counted once a year and the Castle with the most won a trip. Although this was great for the children in that Castle, we felt it would be nice to reward all our pupils who are trying to do their best.
This year we decided to have a winning Castle every term who would receive an afternoon prize- A Movie afternoon, an outdoor games afternoon etc.
We also award a shield for the winning Castle on Sports day. The pupils earned points throughout the day and these were counted with the winning Castle being awarded the Sports Shield on the day. These points were then added to our overall total.
Winning Castles this year;
Term 1+2 (as we introduced this during term 2, we were too late to award a winning Castle for term 1, so we added all the points together)
Winning Castle – Drum- Pupils received a movie and popcorn afternoon
Winning Castle – Fyvie – Pupils received an activities afternoon with cooking, craft and outdoor games available.
Sports Day Winners – Crathes
Castle of the Year…………………….
Overall Winner – Fyvie. Well done to all the pupils who have worked so hard this year to earn points for their Castle. The pupils from Fyvie were rewarded with a trip to Buckie Park for some play, team games and a special picnic. The pupils had a great time and luckily the rain stayed away, although it was very windy.
